Willacy

During the movie I was absolutely shocked by the cruelty and lack of humanity in the immigration crisis. The immigration situation is an extremely complicated issue that is hard to fix and hard to deal with since it is so controversial. But the answer is not to lock up illegal aliens and treat them as criminals. The Willacy Detention Center caught my attention the most, so I decided to do a little research about it. I found very little about the details of this institution since it has had such mixed reviews and problems of sexual abuse and racial hate towards the detainees.
One of the top results and most recent articles I found about Willacy was news from the office of public affairs about a former Willacy Detention Center Contract Security Officer pleading guilty to sexual abuse of a female detainee. Other articles highlight protests or riots against the officers at Willacy. There is no reason or justification for why the detainees should be treated with this hostility. They may be in our country illegally, but then either deport them back to their country or change the law to help them become legal. I think that it is wrong for people to be in our country illegally, but immigration laws are so strict and make it hard to become a citizen that people think they have no choice than to come here illegally.
The immigration crisis needs to become a higher priority to fix.
